3M H-703SFR-UV Key Features & Specifications

• The H-703SFR-UV is part of 3M’s H-700 series of cap-style hard hats with a non-vented shell. 

• It includes 3M’s Pressure Diffusion Technology in the suspension. This design aims to flex and self-adjust as you tighten the ratchet, reducing pressure on the forehead. 

• The ratchet suspension sits relatively low on the head, which helps stability and comfort. 

• There is a UVicator™ sensor incorporated into the shell, which gives a visual cue (via color change) when the helmet may have degraded from UV exposure and should be replaced. 

• The helmet fits head sizes from about 50 to 64 cm (US/Canadian sizing: 6-¼ to 8) 

• While non-vented, it meets ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 Type I, Class G & E in the U.S. for non-vented models. 

• In Canada, its specifications are also listed under CSA Z94.1 for Type 1, Class C (for vented) and non-vented for G/E; since this is the non-vented model, it aligns to the G/E classes. 

• It’s intended to be used with other 3M accessories (faceshields, hearing protection, etc.). 

• From product listings: “Type 1 Class E G” rating is shown in some retailers’ spec sheets. 

Considerations & Limitations

• Because it’s non-vented, airflow is limited. In hot environments this may make the helmet less comfortable.

• The UVicator is a helpful visual indicator, but it doesn’t replace inspecting the shell for cracks, deformities, or impact damage.

• The protective performance can degrade with aging, exposure to chemicals or high temperatures.

• Ensure that the model you buy complies with the European / CE safety standards, if you use it in Spain or EU workplaces (3M’s U.S./Canadian specs don’t always guarantee CE compliance).

• Replacement of the suspension parts, sweatband etc. should be part of maintenance.
